![]() My dad had a dairy herd of Jerseys. One young heifer caused a lot of heartburn with her stubborn ways. Dad named her S.O.B. as a token of his feelings toward the cow. My widowed uncle remarried and brought his new wife to visit. Majel was from Boston and had the accent and attitude to prove it. Majel disapproved of our house, lack of air conditioning, food and everything about our farm. She took to her bed with a migraine and kept us kids busy toting lemonade and ice packs to her room as if we were her servants and she was the queen. Dad didn't say much, but after they left, he announced he was changing S.O.B.'s name to Majel. That said it all. We enjoy hearing stories from our customers about their livestock experiences.
