Goats

Goats are social animals and have lots of personality, which can make a great addition to any hobby farm. Goats can decipher moods and prefer that their humans are happy! 

Space requirements: 
Goats have similar requirements to sheep and should have about 20 feet of indoor space. A small herd of 6-8 goats will be comfortable on an acre, provided the land has the food they like to munch on. 

Average days to reach market weight:
Depending on what type of feed the goats are eating, they can gain .25 to .5 a pound each day. Adjust their feed to bring your goats to market weight at the right time. 

Additional uses of goats:
Goats offer fiber, milk and meat. Angora and Pygora goats also yield mohair. Cashmere goats produce cashmere.
